15 Super Delicious Indian Vegan Snack Recipes
As I always say Indian Recipes, especially south Indian recipes are mostly Vegetarian or Vegan and can be easily made part of our daily diet plan. As this year Ramadan falls in Summer, I have come up with some delicious and easy to make snack recipes, which are purely vegetarian and vegan. The recipes mentioned below are mostly gluten free and you can use olive oil or air fryer to reduce the calorie content. Here is a collection of 15+ Super Delicious Indian Vegan Snack Recipes for Iftar or Tea-Time to choose from……
Indian Vegan Snack Recipes:
1.Aloo-Methi ki Tikki:
Tikkis are my favourite and super easy to make tikkis. Aloo-Methi Tikki is perfect blend of mushy potatoes with pungent smelling fenugreek leaves, dash of Indian spices and lots of love. You can make these ahead and store them in zip lock bags in freezer. Fry when needed.
2.Aloo Pakoda:
These simple, gluten free and vegan pakodas can be made in no time. I always peel and soak potato roundels in cold water for 30-40 minutes before dipping them in batter for frying. Doing so will reduce the starch content in potatoes and you can relish low carb pakodas.
3.Bhel Puri:
Bhel Puri is a colourful snack which tickles your taste buds with amalgamation of flavours. Bhel Puri with seasonal raw mango is a must try snack. If you have red, brown and green chutneys handy them all you need is 10 minutes to dish out this recipe.
4.Khare Semiya:
Khare Semiya is a simple and filling savory recipe made with semiya (Indian Fine Pasta). This is often prepared at iftar time and also made on Eid day.
5.Medu Bonda:
Medu Bonda aka black gram fritters are crisp and yum. You can grind and refrigerate the batter for later use. These vegan and gluten free medu bonda are perfect iftar snack.
6.Dhokla Khaman:
Dhokla is a gluten free and vegan Gujrati Special recipe. Dhokla in microwave are easy to make and take less than 5 minutes of cooking time. A perfect snack to indulge any day.
7.Mutter Chat:
Mutter Chat is spicy green peas chat is a combination of sweet, spicy and tangy flavours. If you have boiled peas at hand, then this can be made in no time.
8.Onion Pakoda:
One of the most loved Indian snack. Most of the time when my mom runs out of ideas for tea time snack, she makes these piping hot pyaaz ke pakode. These are my family favourite and can be made in no time. All the work involved in making this recipe is slicing onions. Your work can be done easy, if your using new age choppers which are easily available in market these days.
9.Pan Fried Tandoori Aloo:
These spicy, tangy, vegan and gluten free tandoori aloo are perfect party appetizer. You can even serve these as a side dish with any flavoured rice.
10.Punugulu:
Punugulu are much loved Andhra special teatime snack and favourite local street snack of Andhraites. If you have leftover dosa batter, then all you need to do is to add sliced onions and chopped green chillies to it. Scoop a small ball and deep fry in oil…
11.Mirchi Bhaji:
Bhajji aka Guntur Mirpakaya Bajji is most famous street food in Asia’s Chili Capital, Guntur. Stuffed green chili is dipped in gluten free chickpea flour batter and deep fried until it turns golden. Served hot with sliced onions and lemon wedges, this bhajji is mouth watering.
12.Ragi Podi Button Idli:
Ragi Podi Button Idli is gluten free, vegan and wholesome recipe. This filling recipe is easy to make and can be made ahead too. Just warm them in microwave before serving.
13.Rajma Aloo Tikki:
Have you tried tikki or cutlet with kidney beans (rajma)….??? If no, then you must try this recipe for sure. These tikkis are pan fried, gluten free, vegan and yummy. You can make these ahead and store them in zip lock bag in freezer and fry them when needed.
14.Samosa Chaat:
Though this involves little extra work…but I tell you it is worth the effort. Samosa is smashed in piping hot chickpea gravy and then topped with spicy chutneys. This is a filling recipe and all you need is a tall glass of buttermilk to polish this off..
15.Vada Pav:
Do I need to say anything about these Mumbai’s most loved street food?? Spicy potato patty is stuffed in bread and sprinkled over with yummy red chili-garlic powder making this a wonderful and filling snack. Do try this for sure….
