Curd parathas / Dahi Paratha Recipe

Curd parathas / Dahi Paratha Recipe

Simple and easy Indian flatbread recipe made with yogurt and wheat flour. This is a perfectly spicy and delicious paratha recipe made from traditional and complex vegetable based parathas or rotis. Flour has all the necessary spices and flavors, and can be served as it is without any seeds or curries. Paratha recipe is a popular choice for day to day meals across India.

It is usually made and served with vegetable-based stuffing marinated in wheat flour. Also, the popularity is due to its less hassle as it can be served without any extra curry. One such popular North Indian paratha is Dahi Paratha recipe.

Well many people will have an illusion about this recipe and stuffing for this yogurt based recipe. As a matter of fact, even I had this confusion when I initially heard about curd parathas . To remove all the confusion, curd is basically added directly to the flour along with other dried spices. Similar to flavored bread or even theplas where the spice mixture is added directly to the dough and later it is rolled into thin bread. Similarly, the Dahi Paratha recipe follows the same tradition, yet apart from curd, it ultimately has a significant impact on the roti. This makes it flaky, light and soft. So you can consume more parathas than any traditional filling paratha.

First of all, in this recipe I have used only wheat flour without mixing it. While it is a healthy option to use only wheat flour, you can also use flour or plain flour along with wheat flour. Secondly, before adding the curd, make sure to whisk it well so that it mixes well with the flour. Also, be sure to use sour and thick yogurt for better taste . Finally, I have shaped these parathas into a triangle shape and there are no hard and fast rules to follow. You can follow any particular shape, including round and square shapes.
