Aloo Ke Kabab Recipe | Alu Kabab Recipe 


      A popular and tasty pan-fried snack recipe made with spiced and mashed potato and spices. it is an ideal vegetarian snack recipe, inspired by the meat alternative of kebab recipe. it is typically served as a snack just before the meal or as an evening snack with a spicy dip like tomato sauce or green chutney condiments.

     Kebab recipes are generally a meat-based snack made with a choice of mixed meats. having said that there are much non-meat based kebab recipe, mainly targeted for the veggie lovers or non-meat eaters. one such simple and easy vegetable-based kebab recipe is aloo ke kabab recipe made with just boiled and mashed potatoes.


TIPS,SUGGESTION AND VARIATION:

  Firstly, in this recipe, i have used the shallow fried technique to fry the potato-based kebab. while this is the recommended way of preparing this snack, you can also make it by pan fry for a more healthy option. 

  Secondly, i have used panko breadcrumbs to make this kebab a crispy one. you may use the other breadcrumbs for the same purpose but may not get the same result.

  Lastly, i have shaped these kebab in a diamond shape so that it resembles the typical kebab recipe. but that is not mandatory and you can shape it to your desired shape.


INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 potato / aloo, boiled & mashed
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • 1 chilli, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp ginger paste
  • ½ tsp aamchur
  • ½ tsp chaat masala
  • ½ tsp pepper powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp mint / pudina, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp coriander, finely chopped
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup bread crumbs


OTHER INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 2 tbsp maida / plain flour
  • ¼ tsp pepper powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs, for coating


INSTRUCTIONS:

1.Firstly, in a large bowl take 3 potato, ½ onion, 1 chilli and ½ tsp ginger paste.
2.Also add ½ tsp aamchur, ½ tsp chaat masala, ½ tsp pepper powder, ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp garam masala, ½ tsp cumin powder and ¼ tsp chilli powder.
3.Further add 2 tbsp mint, 2 tbsp coriander and ¾ tsp salt.
4.Mix well making sure all the spices are well combined.
5.Now add ¼ cup bread crumbs and mix well.
6.Make sure a soft dough is formed. add more bread crumbs or cornflour if the mixture is loose.
7.Now prepare the slurry by taking 2 tbsp cornflour, 2 tbsp maida, ¼ tsp pepper powder and ½ tsp salt.
8.Add ½ cup water and prepare a smooth lump-free batter.
9.Further pinch a small ball sized aloo kabab mixture and give a diamond shape or shape of your choice.
10.Dip in slurry coating uniformly.
11.Now roll in panko bread crumbs to have a crispy outer coating.
12.Shallow fry in hot oil keeping the flame on medium.
13.Flip over and fry on both sides until it turns golden brown.
14.Drain off over kitchen paper to remove excess oil.
15.Finally, enjoy aloo kabab recipe with tomato sauce or green chutney.


NOTES:

  • Firstly, make sure to cool the potatoes completely before mashing.
  • Also, if the kabab break-in oil, do not panic. add a tbsp of more breadcrumbs to aloo mixture and shape.
  • Additionally, add vegetables of your choice to make it nutritious.
  • Finally, aloo kabab recipe tastes great when served hot and crispy.
