Bread Pockets Recipe / Bread Pizza Pocket Recipe 


      Popular snack recipes made with leftover bread slices with pizza sauce base and cheese stuffing. it is an ideal snack for kids and adults, which can be extended for parties as starters or appetisers. this recipe can also be made with plain flour sheets or pastry sheets, but this recipe posy uses leftover bread slices.

     Pizza sauce was used as a base to pizza bread to make the wide range pizza recipes. but today, the same pizza sauce can be used in many different recipes, particularly with the deep fried snacks recipes. one such easy and simple snack recipe is bread pizza pocket recipe made with leftover bread slices.

   This recipe of bread pockets is very similar to my previous pizza puff recipe made with plain flour. as matter of fact, it is a combination of 2 recipes, i.e bread roll and pizza puff recipe. the covering or the outer layer is very similar to a dahi roll and is rolled exactly the same way. however, i used the stuffing from pizza puff with cheese toppings. thus making a quick and simple pizza pockets recipe with leftover bread slices. moreover, in this recipe, I have used veeba pre-made pizza sauce recipe which is ideal for such quick snacks recipe. having said that, you can check my homemade pizza sauce recipe. it equally tastes great with it.


TIPS,SUGGESTION AND VARIATION:

  Firstly, i have used white sandwich bread slices for this recipe, which makes it golden brown when deep fried. i would recommend the same to be used, and use brown or wholemeal bread if you do not have access to the former one. 

  Secondly, the same recipe can be baked and shallow fried, but deep fry yields the tasty and crisp bread pockets. alternatively, you can bake at 180 degree celsius for 15-20 minutes. 

  Lastly, before deep frying ensure to seal the bread pockets thoroughly with water or milk. otherwise, it may burst out and stuff may ooze out to oil.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp sweet corn
  • ½ capsicum, finely chopped
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp pizza sauce
  • 4 olives, sliced
  • 1 tsp jalapeno, chopped
  • ¼ cup mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 9 slice bread, white / brown
  • water to seal
  • oil for frying

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.Firstly, in a large kadai heat 1 tsp butter and saute 1 clove garlic and onion.
2.Now add 1 carrot, 3 tbsp sweet corn, ½ capsicum and ¼ tsp salt.
3.Stir fry on high flame, until the vegetables are cooked well.
4.Now add 3 tbsp pizza sauce and mix well.
5.Transfer to a bowl and allow to cool completely.
6.Now add 4 olives, 1 tsp jalapeno and ¼ cup mozzarella cheese. mix well.
7.Now take a bread slice and trim off the edges and roll thin.
stuff the stuffing and seal tight.
8.Furthermore, heat the oil and deep fry the bread pizza pockets on medium flame. or preheat oven and bake at 180 degree celsius for 15-20 minutes.
9.Finally, serve bread pizza pockets hot with tomato ketchup or green chutney.


NOTES:
  • Firstly, use any bread slice of your choice, but make sure they are fresh. else bread will break while rolling.
  • Also, add vegetables of your choice to make more nutritious.
  • Additionally, use maida paste or corn flour paste if the bread is not getting sealed with water.
  • Finally, serve bread pizza pockets immediately, else bread turns soggy.
