Turmeric Milk Recipe / Golden Milk Recipe 


      A flavoured indian turmeric latte spiced milk-based drink recipe made with turmeric, spices and honey. this is typically made and served as warm beverage drink for guests or for those who are down with cold and flu. turmeric and milk are known for its medicinal properties and when combined together and served, it helps to increase the immune system.

     Indian recipes are not known for its taste and flavour, but also the medicinal properties it holds. particularly, there are certain dish and beverages which is served to improve the immune and digestive related problems. one such simple and easy beverage recipe is turmeric milk recipe or popularly known as golden milk recipe.

   As you may be aware that, masala haldi doodh is one of the ancient and popular indian recipes which has been passed on by multiple generations. generally, it is offered to the guest as an alternative to coffee, tea or cold juice. particularly in northern india it is widely popular during the winter season. the warm turmeric milk drink would provide all the required warmth and also improve the immune system during the winter. in south india, it is given after dinner for good digestion and good sleep. similarly, there are myriad reasons for consuming it and you can serve it any time of the day.

TIPS,SUGGESTION AND VARIATION:

 Firstly, the recipe i have shared here is typical indian golden milk recipe and do not get confused with a turmeric latte or golden milk latte. in latte recipe, you would need more of vanilla flavour which makes it more creamy and sweet. 

 Secondly, the spices i have added you in this recipe can be pre-made and stored to be mixed later. do not mix the honey to the mixture and add it whenever you mix it with milk. 

 Lastly, some may not like to have coconut oil added to the milk. you may avoid it and add ghee as a replacement to it.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cup milk
  • ¾ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp pepper, crushed
  • ½ inch cinnamon
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp honey

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.Firstly, in a sauce pan take 2 cup milk. if you are vegan then you can go for coconut milk or almond milk.
2.Add ¾ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp crushed pepper, ½ inch cinnamon, 1 inch ginger and 1 tsp coconut oil.
3.Whisk and mix well making sure everything is well combined.
keeping the flame on low get the milk to boil.
4.Now cool the milk slightly if you are adding honey.
5.Add 1 tsp honey and mix well. you can alternatively use sugar for sweetness or totally avoid it.
6.Finally, strain the milk and enjoy turmeric milk or golden milk warm.

Notes:

  • Firstly, make sure to boil the milk on low flame to not lose any health benefits of spices.
  • Also, you can add star anise and cardamom to enhance the flavour.
  • Additionally, if you are looking to more sweetness then you can increase the amount of honey or sugar.
  • Finally, turmeric milk or golden milk recipe tastes great when served warm.
