God Papdi is a popular Gujarati sweet that is made during Navratri. It is believed to be the Goddess' favourite sweet and is offered as bhog on the eighth or ninth day. Check out home chef Jyoti's recipe for making God Papdi at home!

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/4 cup Almond Flour
  • 1/4 cup Grated Jaggery
  • 3/4 cup Ghee
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • Chopped Almonds and Pistachios, for garnishing

METHOD:
1. In a thick-bottomed pan, heat ghee. Add the whole wheat flour. Stir continuously till the takes colour and releases an aroma.
2. When the ghee separates from the flour, switch off the gas and immediately add the grated jaggery. Keep stirring till the jaggery melts and is completely mixed in with the flour.
3. Add the almond flour and cardamom powder. Mix well.
4. Mix in the chopped almonds and pistachios.
5. In a thali, spread this mix evenly and press it down with a spatula. While still hot, take a sharp knife and cut the mix into squares or diamonds.
6. Cool it down at room temperature for 3-4 hours. Carefully remove each piece and transfer into a box or container. Store at room temperature.
